About Us
A Ministry Embracing the Neighborhood
Welcome to AMEN St. Louis! Based in the heart of St. Louis, Missouri, AMEN (A Ministry Embracing the Neighborhood) is a mission trip program dedicated to connecting people through service, education, and community building.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple: to offer dynamic, hands-on experiences for diverse groups to learn, serve, and grow together. We believe in doing mission work that empowers the people we serve. By fostering deep, reciprocal relationships between our volunteers and the local St. Louis community, we aim to provide an experience that changes the hearts of everyone involved.
What We Do
Throughout the year—and especially during the bustling summer months—we host youth groups, adult teams, and intergenerational mission groups from all over the country. Visiting groups stay right here on our campus in the AMEN House, utilizing it as a home base for a week of learning and service.
We partner with a network of incredible local non-profits, ministries, and community organizations. During a typical trip, our volunteers might spend their days:
Getting their hands dirty at local community gardens and urban farms to help grow healthy food for the community.
Sorting donations, packing groceries, and distributing food at local pantries
Assisting with neighborhood improvement projects, yard work, and facility maintenance.
Engaging in evening reflection sessions guided by our staff to discuss issues of poverty, social justice, and how to put faith into action.
Our Roots
AMEN St. Louis is a proud local mission agency of Oak Hill Presbyterian Church (PCUSA). The AMEN House officially opened its doors in 2012 after the congregation decided to transform a 1950s Sunday School building into a welcoming Mission House. Rooted in Oak Hill’s vision to "worship, love, serve, and grow," AMEN St. Louis was born out of a desire to show love in our community and share our space with those who want to do the same.
